I told you that Noah is making the holidays sweeter every year! We got the greatest tree on sale last year, and it came with a remote control that lets us chose if we want white lights, colored lights, or both!
I had so much fun at Thanksgiving this year! I found my new favorite foods…ham and corn! I just couldn’t stop eating and eating it! And mommy’s rolls…mmmmm. I was a little confused because gma and gpa came early and I almost thought that they were going to stay with me while mommy and daddy left…then I figured out that they were here to stay and just play with me! I loved that.
Mommy and Gma cooked and cooked and cooked. There was ham, turkey, homemade stuffing, sweet potatoes, more sweet potatoes (mommy’s favorite), corn, rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, and PIES! LOTS AND LOTS OF PIES! Mommy couldn’t have done it without Gma’s help!
So many people came over, which was so much fun…they ate and ate and ate
and then played games. They were really really loud, but I could tell that mommy was having a great time after cooking for days!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving like we did!
You know, my mom says that when you get older you don’t get as excited about decorating, cooking and everything for the holidays. Well, if that is true, I am going to live it up to the fullest now, so that when that happens I can live off of the past years. Honestly, the way I am wired, I don’t think I could get less excited about it…but you know, hormones and everything are the greatest right now! ha
I thought last year was going to be so much fun with Noah opening presents and getting into the paper, but I think he will top this year. In our community the lights have gone up…he noticed the first night! He kept pointing out the window and saying…well, I have no idea what he was really saying…we think it was his idea of “what’s that?” He would say it at every decoration as we drove down the street…I started driving slowly so he could hear what they were and try to say it after us…angel, snowmen, carolers, bird, ice skaters. Let me tell you it was so funny to hear him say those words! He would look up and point at the lightpost decorations…I just had to do it…I think we drove up and down the street that night at least 4 times! I know, crazy, but it is so much fun to have my son soooo excited (crazy) about Christmas like I am.
So, the sermon for this week is done already, and I have been watching and watching the Food Network for tons of new recipes this year. I love Thanksgiving. It is the holiday that Daniel and I set aside for us in our home. It is always so hard to figure out whose house to go to when, and then at Thanksgiving time none of our kids end up going home b/c their parents are so far away, so bringing them somewhere feels like a burden to the person’s house that we are going to. So…Thanksgiving is the time where we stay home and everyone comes to eat at our house. My mom and Glen will be here tomorrow, the room is all ready for them, Mike and Debi will be here on Thursday morning, and my college boys will be here too! We have tried to make it the holiday that when all of our “kids” grow up, they always know that they have a place to “come home” to when they have a family of their own. I LOVE IT.
So, it is a crazy time with friends and family, TONS of people and TONS of food. House is clean, just needs a once-over, and let the cooking begin! Did I mention that I’m excited?
November 13th, 2007. I am soooo excited to announce the finalization of the adoption of Lance! I now have two children and one on the way! Boy has it been a LONG road, but so worth it! He changed his middle name to Julio William. It’s really neat how it worked out, although a little wordy and weird…Julio is my father, William is Debi’s dad’s name, and J.W. was what they always called Mike’s dad! He is still going by Lance, though! We will be having an adoption party during the Thanksgiving celebration! I just can’t wait…God is SOOOO good!!!
When I grow up I am going to be just like my daddy.
But I will probably stay awake during movies better than him
(His favorite part of the movie is the swoosh of the stars at the beginning of the Little Einstein Videos!)
Did you know that watching your kids learn how to suck on a sucker the first time is quite fun? This really isn’t Noah’s first sucker (the dr. gave him one after a shot), but this WAS Halle’s first one! We got to visit the girls on Friday, just as their grandpa came over with leftover Halloween candy! They had dots and suckers…oh what a night of sugar!
It has been said this year that the tree’s aren’t that pretty this fall…I beg to differ. On our short trip to see gma and gpa I shot these pictures as I was driving (don’t worry mom, I was driving slow!). It was just too beautiful to pass up. Noah slept almost the whole trip home (about 3 hours) and I had a great time thanking Jesus for the beauty. It may be ugly other places, but in Missouri it is beautiful! I keep thinking that spring is my favorite season…I love the weather and the beautiful things that begin to grow, and the green grass. Then I love summer…I love the heat (not too much, though!) and swimming, camping and fishing with the kids. Then Fall rolls around and oh I am in love with the weather, the beauty and the season that starts…CHRISTMAS! Yes, I start that EARLY. It’s because I am a music teacher! Right now I can’t wait until winter so I can take Noah out in the first snow! I am just in a really good mood right now, so everything is good! Praise God!
First of all, this is a picture of gma and gpa with us when they came to visit…Noah loves them so much, we just don’t get to see each other often! Bummer. We also went to visit them this week, and that was sooo much fun! Unfortunately, mommy messed up and didn’t take pictures of them together, but she did get me in front of gma’s pretty plants, and me on the rocking horse they got me!
Next, open house. Amazing. We had over 1200 people there seeing firsthand what we do, plus eating a free steak dinner, not to mention all of the free stuff they get going through all of our booths (mmmmm…cheese and milk…and egg nog!!) Our guests were treated like kings and queens. That evening we performed for the masses of people. We had dancers, kids, bands, and video presentations. Usually I am not too stressed about Open House…I enjoy having the band play, even if it is an almost impossible song and I have to transpose all of the parts and even re-write some of the music. This year, we added video presentations also. We have different people that have been changed by Jesus b/c of this ministry get up and tell people what God has done in their lives. This year I decided that it would be cool to add video to these testimonies…make more of an impact with video since we are in a video world. It was hard work…of course I procrastinated and did them all at the last minute, but really I was stuck. You know how it is when you are used to doing something a certain way? That is me. I love doing the familiar, happy with the familiar, so doing this was putting me out of my box. Way out. I had to wrap my brain around doing something different, and being creative, plus honoring God through it all. Here are the videos…I think they turned out great, and have had a lot of compliments on it this week. What do you think?
These two guys are getting married in December! God is soooo good!
I loved working on this one…got pretty creative on it.
This was the last one I did…you can tell I got more comfortable as I figured out different effects to do…Tom is a great guy and we are blessed to have him in this ministry, and have him as a friend of Morgan and Daniel’s so comes over for supper often.
Ok, so, the baby. We are so excited, but this one is so different sometimes I just don’t know what to do! I am now 16 weeks, 2nd trimester and things seem to be going well. I have been sick with this one. That gag reflex is SO OVERWHELMING sometimes that the only thing to do is lay down and concentrate really hard on not getting sick. It was really bad that first trimester, but now it is getting better. My appetite is still not quite there, so instead of gaining any weight I have lost a good amount. A GOOD amount. I am still wearing pretty normal clothes, sometimes throwing a maternity shirt on now and then just to remind myself that something is growing and going on inside there! It is really neat, though…with Noah I didn’t feel him moving or anything until the third trimester…I am already feeling this one flutter around. Sometimes even kick! The doctor isn’t too excited that I am losing the weight and wants me to eat more protein. JOY. ICK is more like it. Meat just doesn’t seem to sound appealing to me AT ALL! So, I have another appointment next week and I am supposed to bring a food journal of all I have eaten this week. Hmm…I suppose I should start on that, huh? Hopefully soon I will have a sonogram scheduled so we can see what this one is! The other mother’s to be that are around me seem to be having girls…we will see!
Last but not least! We have seen a miracle here at our church. Remember the little girl that was burned? It was horrible. She has been in the hospital in ICU all of this time. The Dr. ended up having to do some skin grafting from her back to her front, and she was a pistol with the feeding tube. They thought she would be there for another 4-6 weeks, and then after that was told they would have to do therapy in another facility for another 3 weeks or so. Oh my goodness! THEY CAME HOME TODAY! She came home, has to wear a burn cast, but still got to come home! No in-patient or out-patient stuff! They will have regular visits as expected, but ho my goodness they are all home. We serve a HUGE God! YEAH! Isn’t that great?
